new year's eve holds a special place in our hearts. three years ago, we were walking out from a hip hop club in hongdae, south korea when it happened. the setting was right, a man was playing music across the way, and two eager teens were just happy to take a photo of a mixed couple (a rare thing in South Korea). boom, 2014 hits and all of a sudden we’re an engaged couple, freezing our butts off walking down the deserted back streets we’d wandered into.
adventure and a deep needed to surprise those around us is something that hold the two of us together as strongly as we are today. that’s why when we received an inquiry from Erich and Maureen, we knew it was fate.
like us, these two were extremely adventurous and outgoing. however, we found out these two are also amazing tricksters. somehow, they managed to convince their entire friends list to come to a “new year’s eve party” and enjoy the In-n-out food truck they ordered…
nothing suspicious here.. this was pure brilliance! or at least we think so. when erich made the announcement that the attendees had all been duped, people’s jaws all around the yard dropped as though our Korean mama had just brought in some steaming hot bulgogi.
maureen stole the show, just thirty minutes later as she departed the rear entry of their mother’s beautiful Southern California home. as she walked toward erich, the air was sucked from the crowd as we watched her draw nearer her soon to be husband.
after vows were said, and kisses were given, faces were stuffed. This was more than an exciting wedding, it was an amazing party and we gained two new great friends.
& we met up next day for the day after portrait, because we all need some good bride and groom portraits in day light and it was so worth it.
