outdoor art club vietnamese + modern wedding [jade + john] // san francisco wedding photographers
what we most love about the San Francisco Bay Area is the diversity amongst friends and loved ones. where Jiyeon and I come from, it just isn’t seen as much. So when we get the opportunity to work with a background diverse couple, our hearts light up with extreme joy!
even though Jade and John found us on instagram, we like to tell ourselves that we pleaded with the universe to bring some more amazing people in our lives. Jade, the most calm woman we’ve ever met, worked with us on the details of the wedding from the moment we first started emailing each other. what we most loved about working with her is that on her big day, she stepped back and let us take control with the flow of photography. John was a perfect gentleman himself. even though it was the celebration of him and his beautiful bride, I couldn’t count how many times I overheard him checking in with his guest to make sure they were enjoying themselves and offering to serve their needs.
the careful thought of the couple was truly shown in the festivities of the day. launching the event was an amazing lion dance performance to usher in Asian culture of the bride. for most Americans, this display of acrobats is only seen on television. so as the performers jumped off tables, and leaped into each others arms, the guest were left wide eyed and sore palmed from all the applause they’d been giving.
this even lead into the tea ceremony, a Vietnamese tradition, where the families exchanged gifts with one another. the groom had now settle into his “man dress” as he called it, and looked rather snazzy if I do say so myself. The colors of the room were so vibrant and beautiful, no camera in the world could capture it accurately.
they ended the night with dancing live I’ve never seen. it was almost like everyone at the party were part time choreographers for dancing with the stars. the night was fun, beautiful, and it left me feeling as thought I was able to travel around the world for a night. It was amazing.
you just have to see yourself how vibrant, beautiful the wedding it was at outdoor art club in mill valley!
