Tiki Themed DIY Wedding [Eva + Ryan] // Oakland Wedding Photographer

Eva and Ryan are two of the loveliest people I got to photograph here in San Francisco Bay Area. I am so happy they chose me as their photographer to do both their engagement session and wedding photography. These two were so lovely to work with. And hip. (Is this still a thing? I’m getting old here.) But really, they were amazing from their Santa Cruz coffee shop engagement session to their DIY wedding in Piedmont.

These two had DIY wedding with conscious choices. Eva and Ryan decided very early on that if they were going to plan a wedding, they were going to do it on their own terms, making no compromises in who they are and what they believe in. They chose to basically build their wedding from the ground up, hand-picking every single vendor and detail. These two believed in supporting: women, local businesses, and being environment friendly.

These two got married at Piedmont Community Hall which is such a lovely place surrounded by redwoods. Also can we talk about how cute every single details that were touched by them? The seat chart they made for the wedding was absolutely the cutest.

They both got little emotional on their first look and during their ceremony and I am so happy that I was to capture these precious moments of their special day. The vegan donuts they had was so bomb. 100% would photograph these two for the donuts! ;)

Oh, and these two decided to change their last name to something completely different from their formal names and it

Millwick LA Wedding [Alice + Sung] // Millwick Wedding Photographer

Alice and Sung got married at Millwick in downtown Los Angeles, California. All they wanted for their wedding was to be fun, minimalistic and organic. Also to have a great time with their friends and family. Instead of choosing super structured wedding, they wanted to have a laid back celebration with their loved ones with good music. And we can say their celebration was everything they have imagined for their wedding!

Millwick was such a fun wedding venue to photograph because of lots of greeneries, colorful murals they had right in front of their wedding cute exposed bricks in the venue and fun outdoor bar. They had the most fun wedding party ever and we witnessed everyone taking shots at the outdoor bar in Millwick. It has that true LA vibe with minimalistic and urban surrounding.

Couple other favorite things from their wedding day: Their parents wore Hanbok for their wedding to have Korean cultures. Their wedding donut from Donut Snob was so delicious. I mean if you want to have their donuts at your wedding and want us to photograph/eat your donut, we are in!

This celebration was helped by Helen from Ah, Love. :)

This is little love note from Alice + Sung: “We had gone through endless wedding photographers in search of someone we vibed with. For our big day, we wanted to keep things natural and laid back (and not so stiff and manicured) and sought for a photographer that could retain the true feel of the moment. We stumbled upon the Allens and it was love at first sight - the organic look of their photos, the clever angles/compositions, and the moody and rich colors. And this might sound silly but just browsing their site and reading their Instagram captions, the Allens’ personalities and love for their job shined through – you could just tell how fun they would be to work with. In our initial conversation with them, Jiyeon was sweet, enthusiastic, and easy to talk to. We were immediately comfortable with her and this was key as we knew how awkward we’d be in front of the camera. During our engagement session, Jiyeon got us to relax and allowed us to be ourselves while providing gentle guidance to help us look our best. For the actual wedding, both Jiyeon and Torian captured amazing moments - without overly inserting themselves with instructions for the traditional photos and being super stealthy with the candid ones. They were patient and accommodating with constant asks/requests throughout the day. And though they maintained a quiet presence throughout the day, they were such a delight to have - Jiyeon was caring and encouraging, and Torian had cheeky jokes up his sleeve - which we appreciated when we were feeling the nerves. Even our friends and family have been saying just how cool they were, and we couldn’t agree more. Not only did we love the finished product from the Allens, they were prompt in turning around our pictures for both the engagement session and wedding. We’re so glad we found the Allens to document this milestone of our lives. We’d be thrilled to have Jiyeon and Torian photograph any future occasion for us and would call them in a heart beat!” 🧡
